Chilli bajji | Mirchi bajji | Milagai bajji is an easy Indian tea-time snacks recipe prepared using green chilli and gram flour/besan. It is one of the best eveningΒ snacks recipeΒ to have with hot tea. Bajjis are the best Indian snacks which we prepare mainly in the evening time. During the rainy season, hot tea with bajji is the best combination. This chilli bajji / chilli pakora is a little spicy and it is prepared with green chilli, gram flour/ besan and some spices. For this mirchi bajji, we cannot use normal green chilly used for cooking. It’s a special chilly calledΒ bajji milagai. It is less spicy and big in size. First, wash and wipe green chilly with a cloth. Then dipped in besan batter and fried in hot oil. Ingredients
  

  • 5 Green chilly
  • 1 cup Gram flour
  • ΒΌ cup Rice flour
  • Baking soda (a pinch)
  • Salt ( as needed)
  • 2 tsp Chilly powder
  • ΒΌ tsp Turmeric powder
  • Β½ tsp Asafoetida
  • Red color (optional)
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, add besan flour, rice flour, salt, asafoetida, chilly powder, red color and baking soda mix well.
  • Add enough water mix well without lumps and make a thick batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Take a chilly and dip it in the gram flour batter. Coat the batter well on all sides of the chilly.
  • Drop it into the hot oil.
  • Deep fry both sides until it cooks well.
  • Chilly bajji is ready to serve with hot tea.

1.You can also sieve the flour using a sieve to prevent lumps.
