Breadfruit curry/ kadachakka curry is a vegetarian curry recipe prepared using breadfruit. Breadfruit is also known as kadachakka or sheemachakka. It is very tasty and is the best side dish for rice, chapati, etc.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Bread fruit (chopped)
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp Fenugreek
  • one piece Ginger (chopped)
  • few Curry leaves
  • Water (As needed)
  • Salt (As needed)
  • few Coriander leaves (chopped)

For Grind

  • 1 cup Coconut
  • 4 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • small piece Ginger (chopped)
  • 5 Garlic
  • 5 Small onion
  • few Curry leaves
  • Water (As needed)

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup of coconut to a pan and dry roast well.
  • Add chilly powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and saute for a few minutes.
  • Add chopped ginger, garlic and small onion and saute until they cooked well.
  • Add a few curry leaves and asafoetida saute well.
  • Allow this to cool well.
  • After cooling well, add it into a mixer jar and grind it into a smooth paste by adding enough water.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds, fenugreek, ginger, onion and curry leaves and saute until onion cooked well.
  • Add chopped breadfruit and saute for a few minutes.
  • Add salt and water and mix well. Cover and cook until breadfruit is cooked well.
  • Once cooked well, add grinded coconut paste, salt and water mix well.
  • Cook this for a few minutes.
  • Finally, add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Breadfruit curry is ready to serve.
