Capsicum pakoda is a deep-fried snack recipe prepared using capsicum, gram flour and spices. It is one of the Indian spicy snacks recipes to have with hot tea. It is also known as Kudamilagai Pakoda or Shimla Mirch pakora. It is easy evening snacks or quick tea-time snacks prepared along with tea.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Capsicum (medium size chopped)
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • Ginger (small piece chopped)
  • 5 pods Garlic (crushed)
  • Curry leaves (few chopped)
  • Coriander leaves (few chopped)
  • ½ cup Gram flour
  • ½ cup Rice flour
  • 2 tsp Chilly powder
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp Asafoetida
  • ½ tsp Fennel seeds
  • Salt (as needed)
  • tsp Oil
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • Cut the capsicum into thin lengthwise pieces.
  • In a mixing bowl, add chopped capsicum, onion, ginger, coriander leaves, curry leaves, crushed garlic, gram flour, rice flour, salt, asafoetida, chilly powder, turmeric powder and fennel seeds mix well.
  • Add 1 tsp oil and mix well. Don’t add water. Combine all ingredients well until the flour stick to the vegetables. If necessary, sprinkle some water into it.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Take some portion of the capsicum mixture and sprinkle it in hot oil.
  • Fry all sides of capsicum pakora on medium flame until it turns crispy and golden brown.
  • Crispy capsicum pakora is ready to serve with hot tea.
