Coconut chutney is a side dish for South Indian breakfast like dosa and idli. It is famous in Tamil Nadu and is known as thengai chutney.

- 1 cup Coconut
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- Salt (as needed)
- 1 tsp Oil
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- ½ tsp Urad dhal
- 1 Red chilly
- Curry leaves (few)
- Water (as needed)
In a blender, add coconut and chilly powder grind it into a smooth paste.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dhal, red chilly and curry leaves saute well.
Add the coconut paste, salt and pour enough water into it.
This curry slightly heat, switch off the stove. Don’t allow to boil.
Coconut chutney is ready to serve with idli or dosa.
