Coconut chutney is a side dish for South Indian breakfast like dosa and idli. It is famous in Tamil Nadu and is known as thengai chutney.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Coconut
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • Salt (as needed)
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp Urad dhal
  • 1 Red chilly
  • Curry leaves (few)
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions

  • In a blender, add coconut and chilly powder grind it into a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dhal, red chilly and curry leaves saute well.
  • Add the coconut paste, salt and pour enough water into it.
  • This curry slightly heat, switch off the stove. Don’t allow to boil.
  • Coconut chutney is ready to serve with idli or dosa.
