Ingredients
  

  • 15 Kovakkai
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Salt (as needed)

For grind

  • ½ cup Coconut
  • 5 Small onion
  • 3 Green chilly
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp Jeera
  • Water (as needed)

For tempering

  • 1 tsp Oil
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 Red chilly
  • Curry leaves (few)

Instructions

  • Cut kovakkai into slightly thick round slices.
  • In a mixer, add coconut, green chilly, small onion, ½ tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp jeera and water and grind it into a smooth paste.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan.
  • Add kovakkai and salt and fry it on low flame until it turns golden brown and keep it aside.
  • Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves and saute well.
  • Add grinded coconut paste and saute for a few minutes on low flame until the raw smell goes well.
  • Add curd and salt mix well and switch off the flame. Don’t allow it to boil.
  • Finally, add fried kovakkai and mix well.
  • Tasty kovakkai pachadi / dondakaya pachadi is ready to serve with rice.
