Bottle gourd halwa isalso known as suraikai halwa, dudhi halwa, lauki halwa. It is an easy Indiansweet or Indian dessert recipe prepared using bottle gourd, milk, sugar, gheeand nuts.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup Bottle gourd (grated)
  • ΒΌ cup Ghee
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 cup Milk (boiled)
  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 5 Cashew nut (chopped)
  • 5 Almonds (chopped)
  • Green color (optional)

Instructions

  • Peel off the skin, remove seed part and finely grate bottle gourd.
  • Heat 3 tbsp ghee in a pan.
  • Add chopped cashew nut and badam fry well. Take it out and keep it aside.
  • In a pan, add a grated bottle gourd and saute well.
  • Add 2 cups milk and cook well until milk evaporates and bottle gourd cooked well.
  • Once the bottle gourd cooked well, add sugar and color powder mix well.
  • After a few minutes, the sugar dissolves and it turns a little watery.
  • Stir well and cook this for a few minutes. After a few minutes, it starts to thicken.
  • Add 1 tbsp ghee and cardamom powder cook for a few minutes.
  • Add roasted cashew nuts into the halwa and mix well.
  • Lauki ka halwa is ready to melt in the mouth.
