Omapodi is an easy and crispy South Indian tea time snack recipe prepared using besan/gram flour. Main ingredient is omam which is healthy.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Gramflour
  • ¼ cup Rice flour
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp Asafoetida
  • ¾ tsp Salt (or as needed)
  • 1 tbsp Butter / Hot oil
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Curry leaves (few)
  • 1 tbsp Omam
  • ½ cup Water ( or as needed)

Instructions

  • In a mixie, add omam coarsely grind it and then add water grind well and filter the omam water keep aside.
  • In a bowl, add gram flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt. Heat oil and add into the flour mix well
  • Add omam water little by little and make a smooth dough.
  • Fill the dough in a sev mould.
  • Heat oil in a pan and press the dough in the hot oil.
  • Fry both sides of omapodi in medium flame until it turns crispy.
  • Once all dough finished, add curry leaves into the oil and fry well.
  • Add fried curry leaves into omapodi.
  • Once it cools down, break it into pieces and store it in an airtight container.
