In a pan, add 1 cup of moong dal and dry roast well.
Wash the roasted moong dal well.
In a pressure cooker, add moong dal, small onion, garlic, turmeric powder, salt and water.
Cook this for 2 to 3 whistles.
In a mixer, add coconut, jeera, green chilly and water grind it coarsely.
Add grinded paste and enough water into dal and mix well.
Cook this for a few minutes and this curry should be thick gravy consistency. Once cooked well, remove from flame and keep aside.
In a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves saute well.
Add this tempering into paruppu curry and mix well.
Paruppu curry is ready to serve with rice.
