Ingredients
  

For cooking dal

  • 1 cup Moong dal
  • 5 Small onion
  • 5 pods Garlic
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt (As needed)
  • 2 cup Water

For grinding

  • ¾ cup Coconut
  • ½ tsp Jeera
  • 1 Green chilly
  • Water (as needed)

For tempering

  • 1 tsp Oil
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves (Few)
  • 1 Red chilly

Instructions

  • In a pan, add 1 cup of moong dal and dry roast well.
  • Wash the roasted moong dal well.
  • In a pressure cooker, add moong dal, small onion, garlic, turmeric powder, salt and water.
  • Cook this for 2 to 3 whistles.
  • In a mixer, add coconut, jeera, green chilly and water grind it coarsely.
  • Add grinded paste and enough water into dal and mix well.
  • Cook this for a few minutes and this curry should be thick gravy consistency. Once cooked well, remove from flame and keep aside.
  • In a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves saute well.
  • Add this tempering into paruppu curry and mix well.
  • Paruppu curry is ready to serve with rice.
